Hoping for a strong comeback from Sidhu
Former ace cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu was hospitalized after being diagnosed with acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a life threatening disease. But as was the case on the cricket field, his ‘never-say-die’ spirit has accompanied Sidhu to the hospital.
“Down but Not Out! Life threatening disease (DVT) With God ‘s Grace will recover. Life is Fragile, handle with Prayer,” Tweeted Sidhu, who is popularly known as ‘paaji’ and ‘Sixer Sidhu’.
Sidhu played for India from 1983 to 1989. Primarily a batsman, Sidhu was well known for his lusty hits against the spinners. Towards the end of his cricketing career, he remarkably improved his fielding. The legendary Sunil Gavaskar referred to him as Jonty Singh Sidhu due to his fielding prowess.
Sidhu mesmerized millions of cricket fans during his hey days. He did not stop to entertain people off the field even after retiring from cricket. Sidhu is one of the judges in ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ and also features in the immensely popular TV show ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’.
His couplets on just about any topic have caught the attention of the world. Sidhu still remains a live wire as a commentator. His astute cricketing sense coupled with immaculate gift of gab make him a delight to listen to.
Paaji has also successfully tried his hand at politics. In 2004, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Amritsar.
On October 4, 2015, Kapil Sharma stated during his show that Sidhu wasn’t well. However the gravity of situation came to light when Sidhu was admitted to the hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see a strong comeback from our paaji.
