Moga Police seizes 1800 kg Poppy Husk

On Tuesday, Moga Police officials retrieved 1,800 kg of poppy husk from a godown located near Badduwal bye-pass in Dharamkot town of Moga district, according to SSP Surinderjit Singh Mand. Police seized 90 bags of poppy husk each weighing around 20 kgs.

A truck and a Mahindra Xylo automobile from the godown have also been seized by the cops.

According to the SSP, police teams seized a significant amount of poppy husk from these automobiles and arrested 11 persons. These included Pippal Singh of Daulewala village, the drug kingpin who has been operating out of the jail. The SSP stated that he was imprisoned for 30 years under the NDPS Act.

Inderjit Singh alias Labha, Minna Singh, Rasaal Singh alias Nannu, Karamjit Singh alias Karma, Gurjinder Singh alias Motu, Jugraj Singh alias Joga, Lakhwinder Singh alias Kakku, Paramjit Singh alias Pamma, and Buta Singh, all of Daulewala village, and Mangal Singh, of Mandar village, were the other ten drug traffickers.

Although, none of them had been apprehended on the spot, according to the SSP, who also stated that more investigations were underway and that all of the identified drug traffickers will be apprehended soon.

In the meantime, the Dharamkot police station has filed a FIR against all of the suspects under sections 15, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act.

Daulewala village is well-known for its drug-related activities.

Hundreds of complaints had previously been filed against villagers under the NDPS Act. In the last ten years, at least 400 residents of the town, including 50 women, have been arrested.
