Kejriwal promises to pay loss compensation to farmers

AAP national convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal today urged Punjab farmers, labourers, and workers not to commit suicide over losses caused by pink bollworm attack, rain, and hailstorm, saying that if the state government(Congress) fails to deliver sufficient relief, the AAP government would compensate those affected by April 30, 2022.

CM Kejriwal was in town for the party’s “Kejriwal’s Dialogue with Farmers” event, where he met with farmers. State party president Bhagwant Mann, Punjab affairs incharge Jarnail Singh, co-incharge Raghav Chadha, Leader of the Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, and Kisan Wing state president Kultar Singh Sandhwan were among those who accompanied him.

The ceremony began with a two-minute silence to honour the women who died in an accident in Tikri. The three women who lost their lives belonged to Khiva Dialuwala village (Mansa).

“After April 1, farmers and labourers in Punjab will not commit suicide because of crop failure,” Kejriwal told the crowd. This is my pledge, and Kejriwal follows through on it. Crop loss assistance will be credited to each impacted farmer and laborer’s account by April 30, 2022.”
