‘Great Grand Masti’ Review : Don’t Take Your Kids And Your Brain !

The boys are back to do some ‘Masti’! Indra Kumar directed horror sex comedy ‘Great Grand Masti’ gives you what you expect from the Masti franchise ‘Brainless humor’. Performances by the three main leads like always is tremendous, but the script isn’t strong enough to make it a laugh out loud comedy.

The movie’s initial release date was July 22, but the date was advanced to July 15, due the unfortunate online leak two weeks ahead of its release. Pre-release buzz for the movie was not that great either, as nobody wanted nor expected another film out this franchise. Everyone knew the first ‘Masti’ was a standalone movie, but after its huge success producers felt that they have few bad Whatsapp jokes left and they can make another movie so they continued the franchise.great-grand-masti-poster

The movie’s plot revolves around Amar Saxena (Riteish Deshmukh), Meet Mehta (Vivek Oberoi) and Prem Chawla (Aftab Shivdasani). The basic idea behind every movie in the trilogy has always remained the same.Once again, Amar, Meet and Prem are frustrated with their sex lives and once again in search of some ‘Masti’ they find themselves in some serious troubles . In the hopes of getting some ‘Action’, they travel to Amar’s ancestral house in a small town.

The trio gets their wish when they meet Ragini (Urvashi Rautela), who seduces all three of them and tries to sleep with them. The story takes a twist when the trio finds that the house is haunted by Ragini’s ghost and they will die if they sleep with her.

Response from the general public has been mixed. Critics are also tearing apart the movie blaming the poor plot of the movie and the lame sexual puns.

Pathikrit Sanyal of News 18 tweeted , “Wow this movie has a 3D animated flashback section. This shoddy animation quality is better than the movie so far #GreatGrandMasti The movie has plugged in its name twice so far like we need constant reminders of our mistake of coming to watch it. #GreatGrandMasti.”

“Strictly recommended viewing for people who want to get sledgehammered with silliness. Or just hammered by ham. You know you want it!” said Bryan Durham of DNA.

All the actors gave good performances, Urvashi Rautela is also pretty decent. Aftab Shivdasani outshines with his quick one-liners and comic timing. Shreyas Talpade also makes a funny cameo. But the plot drags everything down with absurd moments like Sanjay Mishra shitting out a watermelon.

The production value of the movie is amazing as can be expected from Balaji Productions. With catchy titles like “Teri Kamar Ko” and “Lipstick Laga Ke” songs have also become a big hit on social media.

Final Verdict – If you are in the mood for some Brainless humor and you like watching sex comedies Great Grand Masti is the movie for you.
