No, iPhone 6S is not water-resistant

Rumors said that the iPhone 6S was water proof, but we have heard contradictory statements. The test for water proof effectiveness was planned by CNNMoney. The smart phone was dunked in a vase topped with water for nearly 5 minutes to test its water resistance. The iPhone continued to perform in water too but then things started to change. Bubbles started to rise rapidly and this was evidence that the water had penetrated deep into the device.

rsz_verge-15img_65970As the water seeped in, the performance started getting effected and the bottom of the screen started showing a distortion. The phone was pulled out from the water, and after about 10 minutes it’s services started to flail. No music could be heard and this may be because the headphone port had filled up with water and the wrong signal of plugged in headphones may be getting passed across to the system of the smart phone. Then the screen blanked out, turned white and the phone plunked into “shut off” mode. The only thing that needs to be appreciated, is the amount of time it sustained services inside the water, and this is an unheard accomplishment for a smart phone.

“Protect Your Bubble” a gadget insurance company carried out a similar test on an iPhone 5, iPhone 6S , and the devices stopped after a while, they were water dunk in an aquarium but the iPhone 6S managed to work for a whopping 45 minutes. When they were questioned about the results the company stated that the phone’s “flat position” in the aquarium may be the reason why it worked more.

The surprising thing is that Apple never gave a commitment that its iPhone 6S was water-resistant. These were purely the rumors spread by some tech blog speculations that had the people believe in its water resistant qualities. The ports in the iPhone that are surrounded by rubber tubing, no doubt, deter the water from entering into the device. A quick reaction and pulling the phone out of the water will help save it but if you head out for a swim with it, then things will be different. The iPhone has managed to clear the shatter resistant and scratch resistant tryst carried out by CNNMoney. After a 4 foot drop the smart phone escaped with dents.
