Students deported back to India can reapply for US visa
A few months ago Hyderabad was shaken when a few Indian students were sent back from the United States airports on the pretext of incomplete documentation. Now these students have got the go-ahead from the authorities and they can reapply for visa.
The students have the permission to reapply for admission to universities in the US. Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Diplomatic Mission to India, Michael Pelletier, gave a statement to the reporters on Tuesday confirming “Anyone is at any point free to reapply for visa if they feel they have documentation, facts on the ground have changed. They can always reapply for admission. But it will be a lengthy and expensive process. So people should think what and where they should study.”
Michael has stated that the students who were sent back had been carefully scrutinized case by case before they were ‘turned back” by the authorities. He stated that in each case the authorities wanted to know the reason why the students had opted out for study and they scrutinized the documents supporting the students reasoning. He said “If there is some reason to believe that you are travelling on the wrong visa or that your purpose is not aligned with the visa, then they may have issues.”
The students had been put bars after handcuffing and when asked about this Michael stated that it was just being turned back and the action was taken because “If entry is denied by immigration officials such people are kept in the safe place and they are sent back at the earliest.” He insisted that the students who desire to pursue education in the States need to adhere to the formalities to the last paper and should have their complete documentation in order if they want to get the go-ahead signal from all the related Ministries and authorities.
