CM Channi to hold a meeting with Amit Shah regarding the ‘Lakhimpur Kheri’ incident!

On Tuesday, the Chief Minister of Punjab Charanjit Channi has made the announcement that he will be meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discuss the Lakhimpur Kheri incident with him. The meeting is scheduled to take place in the evening.

Channi, who attended a quiet protest at Gandhi Smarak Bhawan with some ministers and Congress MPs, compared the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri to the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh catastrophe.

On Sunday, eight people were killed and dozens others were injured in the deadliest fight since farmers began protesting the Centre’s agriculture legislation last year.

Among the dead, four were farmers, allegedly mowed down by vehicles driven by BJP workers on their way to an event in the area to greet Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.

The farmers’ “killing” was “deliberate,” according to Channi.

He stated that he will meet with the Union Home Minister at 6.30 p.m. to discuss the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

He claimed that a BJP leader had previously stated that farmers would not be spared. “After that, they (farmers) were slaughtered on purpose. It was a bloodbath.” He compared the situation to the Jallianwala Bagh catastrophe, in which General Dyer ordered his forces to open fire on unarmed civilians.
