Moga extortion case: NIA conducts search operation for suspects in a UP based village
A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) went to a village in Meerut district to look for two individuals suspected of supplying illicit weaponry to an extortion ring uncovered in Punjab’s Moga in May.
The gang is supposedly commanded by Khalistan rebels who have relocated abroad.
On Wednesday, the NIA team delivered notifications to the two suspects’ families, asking them to come at their Chandigarh office for questioning.
On May 22 of this year, the first case in this alleged extortion scandal was filed in Moga. On June 10, once the names of separatists surfaced, the NIA took over the investigation.
The NIA had detained a suspected arms trafficker from Meerut in July. As some sources suggest, the team set up by the NIA raided the homes of Jalish Ahmad and Mohd Khilafat in Radhna village.
