50 crore weekend for ‘Singh is Bliing’, producers smile away

The Box office coffers are rolling crazy and “Singh is Bliing” is clambering up the money ladder super quickly. Akshay Kumar’s latest Bollywood masala film “Singh is Bliing” with Amy Jackson has been declared 2015s second largest opener, and has already crossed the Rs 50 crore target in India. It lost out the battle to Salman Khan’s “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” who came in first in the opening race, but its first weekend collections had the producers smiling right away.

The movie starring Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson has been directed by Prabhudeva and on its opening day “Singh is Bling” raked in about Rs 20.67 crores, Saturday recorded Rs 14.5 crore and the October 4th Sunday showed an earning of almost 19.27 crore at the Indian Box Office. The reviews may be mixed and judgmental but the collections are promising.

The story revolves around a simple village man called Raftaar Singh who is extremely respectful towards his parents but is a happy-go-lucky man. He is entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the super strong Amy Jackson who is seen flying around on the screen with her blows and kicks ringing out, as she searches for her lost “mommy”. Lara Dutta is a “round and warm” package who adds the comic quotient to the flick making the Bollywood flick, seem laughable at times.

The movie may have a weak story line but it has been taking over the Box office in a strong way and is expected to surge ahead of the Rs 100 crore mark this week in India, say the trade analysts. With Rs 54.44 crore to boast of in the first three days , trade analysts are seen smiling at this “Raftaar” of Raftaar Singh who surges ahead screaming “Singh is Bliing”singh-is-bliing-akshay-kumar-lara-dutta-amy-kackson!
