Virat Kohli knocks way to “Man of the tournament” in ICC World Twenty20
Both the West Indies women’s cricket team and the West Indies Men’s Cricket team have grabbed the epitome of jubilation after earning the much coveted World Twenty20 trophies, but the Indians smile away in glory as their favorite cricketer Virat Kohli gets the prestigious “man of the tournament”.
The women’s cricket team from West Indies slammed an eight-wicket victory by defeating the Australian team, and the West Indies Carlos Brathwaite hit four consecutive sixes in the last over to defeat England and carry home the World Twenty20 trophy. But somewhere in this world cup competition, India made its mark and Virat Kohli got crowned the’Man of the Tournament’ in the ICC World T20. His performance was termed as amazing and applauded for. Kohli carries this medal on his shoulder for the second successive time. In 2014, Kohli had knocked 319 runs against Bangladesh and had marched onto to the final.
Virat Kohli was not there for the christening and CAB president and former Indian captain of the Cricket team Sourav Ganguly took the award for the ace batsman. Kohli gave a statement on this saying “Although I’m disappointed that we were not able to make it through to the final and win the ICC World Twenty20 title on home soil, I’m proud to be named player of the tournament.” He further claimed to the media that “As a team, we have all loved the experience of playing in this event in front of big, passionate home crowds and I’m pleased the tournament in India has been successfully staged. And I’d like to add my congratulations to the West Indies men’s and women’s squads for their successes.”
Kohli had swung a whopping average of 136.50, 3 scores of 50plus, a strike rate of 146.77 and got famous for “scoring 273 runs throughout the tournament”. He stood at the unbeaten 82 in a run-chase against the Australians and this act was categorized as the epic T-20 knock. Against Pakistan, Kohli stood at an unbeaten 55 and against West Indies he was not out at the 89 score but his efforts against the West Indies couldn’t stand a chance and India lost in the semi-finals. Kohli has contributed to some excellent cricket and he has earned the much deserved “Player of the tournament” title. This needs a clap for sure!
