Was there vulgar portrayal of nurses in “The Kapil Sharma show” on TV?
Most of the audiences were huge fans of “Comedy nights with Kapil” and had been devastated when they saw their favorite Kapil Sharma, the famous stand-up comedian, replaced with
in the same. Kapil came back with a “Sony” Bang, and people ecstatically welcomed the entertaining “Kapil Sharma Show” back into their lives. But it seems that he is now facing flak of the nurses from Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Amritsar for trying to make people laugh.
Kapil Sharma, the popular Stand-up comedian is ready for another controversy. Superb comedy and comic timing is the forte of this talented actor and he has recently come out with ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ on Sony TV, where he has the audiences in splits with his comic anecdotes with actors portraying “nurses”. This has led to a protest raised by the nursing staff from various hospitals and nursing homes in Amritsar. The protests were reported to be held at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Amritsar.
Slogans had been raised against Navjot Singh Sidhu and Kapil Sharma and the agitated nurses seem to be disturbed because they felt that their profession was being demeaned.
State General Secretary of the Punjab Nursing Association, Raj Bedi, has quoted to the Hindustan Times saying “How can Sidhu be part of a show like this that demeans someone’s profession? He keeps laughing at jokes made about the medical profession, including those on doctors, even when his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu (Amritsar-East MLA) is a doctor. We as a community expected that Sidhu would not support this nonsense and such vulgar jokes. Nurses have been objectified on the show since its beginning.”
Kapil , better be careful as that is not all. He may be slapped with a defamation case filed by the nursing union, say the reports. Astonishing fact remains that a simple comedy show has become a “comedy of errors” for the famous Kapil Sharma, whereas the medical fraternity knows that “laughter is the best medicine” to cure diseases. Isn’t it time to take real genuine“comedy” in good stride?
