Jat Stir? Haryana gets vigilant, Govt Whatsapps during ‘no-net’ days
June 5th is approaching and the Jat leaders are steadfast on their deadline for the “re-launch” of the reservation agitation that lead to extreme chaos and loss of precious human lives in February. The reservation granted to the 5 other communities and Jat Community has been stayed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court and a backlash is expected in retaliation. Central forces have got their orders and security forces have been mobilized and reinstated across various places Haryana to maintain safety.
Seven districts of Haryana have been declared as “sensitive areas” and these include Jind, Hisar, Kaithal, Sonepat, Bhiwani, Rohtak and Jhajjar. In February 2016, These districts had experienced the onslaught of fury and a widespread violence during the aggressive Jat agitation stir. In February, the violence had led to the destruction of Hotel Blue Park, IITM College, Haldiram Hotel, Jurassic Park, TDI Mall Ansal Plaza at Kundli Murthal, in Sonipat District, say reports. These properties had been ruthless blazed down and there was immense destruction of assets during the stir.
The routes to Delhi had been enveloped in the shroud of fear and the movement along this area had been paralyzed for days. On the February 22nd, in their fury, the Jats had stopped “the water supply to Delhi” because the agitators took over the Munak Canal that supplies water to the National capital.
The Prakash Singh committee, set up by the State to delve into the agitation is investigating the matter, and it has stated in a concerned manner “If a group of agitators could stop an important source of water supply to the National Capital, what could a determined group of terrorists do is rather discomforting to imagine”.
Now, paramilitary forces have their eye on the Munak canal and CRPF are vigilant at the Jat Dharamsala in Hisar. Forces have been deployed at the Yamuna Nagar, Sonipat and section 144 has been imposed. More than five people cannot collect together at any place abd they cannot carry sticks, swords, knifes, and axes or any other weapon with sharp edges. Section 144 has been declared from May 28th to July 27th that is for about 60 days.
There is another surprising fact revealed! During the peak of the Jat agitation the top officers of Haryana working for the Home Department were not communicating anything in written to their juniors slogging it out in the turbulent districts, the orders were not written at this time as they should have been, say the reports. Then how did they communicate?
In the agitation that left almost 30 dead and hundreds traumatized, the Top officials were directing their juniors through WhatsApp messages. How could the civil servants and police officers use Whatsapp at this sensitive time when the State Government had stopped internet services to the agitated area for a month beginning February 19th, is a mystery that remains.
