Punjab: Anirudh Tiwari becomes the new Chief Secretary!

Punjab’s new political body, led by Prime Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, has decided to appoint Anirudh Tiwari as the new Chief Secretary of the state. He currently holds the position of Additional Secretary, Development.

He replaced Vini Mahajan, who had been serving as chief secretary since June last year and was personally chosen by the former Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh.

Although the names of the other three highest officers after Mahajan- Ravneet Kaur, Sanjay Kumar and VK Singh also made the rounds as contenders for the top position.  However, Tiwari, who is subordinate to them and is a batch officer in 1990, finally chosen by the team of Channi-Sidhu.

He played a major role in the field of agriculture, finance, power and personnel. All of these became a decisive factor in him becoming the new Chief Secretary.
