Navjot Singh Sidhu expected to hold a meeting with Harish Rawat and KC Venugopal on Thursday

The party announced on Tuesday that Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu will meet with the All India Congress Committee general secretary (organisation) on Thursday to discuss “organisational problems connected to Punjab.”

This comes a few days after Sidhu filed for his resigned as chairman of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, a position for which he had battled hard only three months before. His resignation has yet to be approved by Congress.

It also comes amid allegations that tensions between cricketer-turned-politician Sidhu and Punjab’s new chief minister, Charanjit Singh Channi, are still simmering. These reports have been disregarded by the party as rumours thus far.

In July, Sidhu finally achieved the position of  Punjab Congress chief, after a long power struggle with previous Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
