Power crisis in Punjab gets severe, 2 additional power plants shut down
The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited lost power supplies from two thermal plant units on Thursday morning, dealing additional blow to the existing Punjab power situation.
On Thursday, one unit of each of the Lehra Mohabbat and Talwandi Sabo thermal plants stumbled, putting the PSPCL in yet another power outage. Both of these plants have already closed a unit.
“At the moment, we have two 660 MW units shut at Talwandi Sabo, 210 and 250 MW units at Lehra Mohabbat, and a 210 MW unit at Ropar that are not producing power. While the power situation is currently manageable due to lower agricultural upturn power, we are optimistic that residential load will decrease in the next four days due to a change in weather”, according to a PSPCL official.
