Gurmeet Ram Rahim approaches High Court requesting bail

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the founder of Dera Sacha Sauda, has appealed the Punjab and Haryana High Court, requesting bail in the event of his arrest.

It happened two days after a Faridkot court issued production orders in relation with a desecration case. He is presently imprisoned in Sunaria jail, Rohtak.

Through his advocates, he has asked the arresting officer to let him go on bail instantly if he is apprehended in relatedness with FIR No. 63, which was filed on June 2, 2015 at the Bajakhana police station in Faridkot district under Sections 380 and 295-A of the Indian Penal Code.

The dera chief claimed, that the distinctive team looking into the case had moved an appeal for his production warrants “now with the change in the state government’s leadership.” He said that this was done late, after more than a year and four months.
