Navjot Singh Sidhu, the Punjab Congress chief, has resigned!

On Tuesday ( September 28th)…In a shocking turn of events, Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was widely expected to run for the post of Chief Minister in the upcoming Punjab assembly elections, resigned as the party’s State Chief.

Sidhu delivered a short cryptic message in a letter to Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi. He was obviously hinting that everything is not alright in the party and that the power struggle continues despite the recent change of Chief Minister.

Sidhu, on the other hand, will remain in the party. In his resignation letter, he wrote;

“The collapse of a man’s character stems from the compromise corner, I can never compromise on Punjab’s future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab,” Sidhu wrote in the letter.

Therefore, I hereby resign as the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Will continue to serve the Congress,”

Former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh slammed Sidhu shortly after his departure, calling him “unfit for the border state of Punjab.”

His resignation letter comes as Amarinder Singh is rumoured to be joining the BJP. In Delhi today, Singh is expected to meet with the BJP’s top leaders, including party chairman JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah.
