Panjab Haryana gripped by dengue, Chandigarh reports 136 positive cases
The vector borne disease, dengue, marches on, undeterred from one State to the other. Earlier it was dengue reports from Punjab and Haryana that had plagued the region but now Chandigarh, the Panjab Haryana capital, has also reported a sudden increase in dengue cases. Reports confirm that nearly 136 dengue cases have been diagnosed positive till today with the disease.
Reports state that two lives have already succumbed to the disease in Punjab Haryana each. Punjab has already confirmed to 1000, cases of the vector borne disease, and Haryana is also approaching the 1000 mark. The dengue cases are on the rise, confirm the authorities.
A teenage boy who was categorized as a suspected dengue case has died at a hospital in the city. The worsening situation has become a cause of worry for the authorities and this led to an emergency meeting of the authorities. The preparedness of the city for this disease is being scrutinized, and to check the dengue menace, a meeting had been initiated by Anurag Agarwal, the Chairman of UT Health secretary.
The meeting comprised of Assistant Director Malaria, Sub Divisional Magistrates of Chandigarh South and East, experts from PGIMER, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, DPI Schools, Director Health Services, and many others, shared concerns confirms an official release.
The main topic of concern in the meet was to plan a strategy to contain the dengue menace and plenty of ideas from the Municipal Corporation, PGIMER,Health Department and other sources were thrashed out. The availability of blood platelets for the patients who have been attacked by dengue will be made available by GMCH and PGIMER. The blood banks of the two hospitals promise availability to the patients who gain admittance in the respective hospitals.
