Canadian NRI woes! Photo-shopped ‘Jubbal’ and Wagah border ‘Kang’ crash

It wasn’t a great time for two Sikh Canadian citizens in these last few days. Veerender Jubaal must have had the worst nightmare unfold in front of his eyes when he saw his photograph holding the Holy Quran and read the report that he was involved in the Paris attacks. He was innocent and his picture had been smartly changed with photo-shoppe.

The deadly attacks in Paris raised the shackles worldwide and people snarled in fury at the gory incidents and innocent deaths. A Spanish newspaper printed an altered photograph of jubbal and presented it to the world as an image of a person who had a hand in the heinous Paris crimes on Friday. Jubbal works in Greater Toronto area, as a free lance writer, and he was astonished when his picture started doing the rounds after the multiple Paris attacks that left almost 129 people brutally killed.

Jubbal’s name was not mentioned but he was shown holding a Quran and wearing a vest of a suicide bomber in the picture posted by an unofficial ISIS support group on Telegram, the social media platform. It was through the Telegram that the ISIS had confirmed their involvement in the attacks.
Instead of the Holy Quran, Jubbal had been holding an iPad in his hands in the original selfie.

The picture had been altered and the vest was added to his body with the help of photo-shoppe. An object having the appearance of a sex-toy was also added in Jubbal’s selfie background image. Jubbal tweeted his innocence and has cleared that he has never visited Paris and lives in Canada.

On the other hand another troublesome incident involving an NRI Sikh from Canada, by the name of Surinder Singh Kang, has been brought to light. Early Monday morning, under the influence of liquor, Kang crashed his SUV into the Wagah-Attari border and he was arrested by the Border Security Force.
He had driven his sports vehicle straight on and smashed into the first gate at 3.30 AM in the morning, and after crossing the zero line, banged into the second gate about 800 meters ahead.

The car rammed into the border gate on the Pakistan side, badly damaging the Attari gate, to the shock of the BSF officials. A BSF official has stated “All gates were closed at that time. It is a serious security breach that he managed to reach up to the zero line. The incident is being investigated.”

The SUV had been apprehended by the Pakistani officials but had been returned back after the cajoling of the BSF. An inquiry has been requested into the incident by the Punjab Rangers.

The 50 year old NRI, Kang has been booked for attempt to murder charges under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code
