Sheena Bora case twists again! Peter Mukherjea in prison

“He has been arrested”, this came as a surprise for the people. Yes, Peter Mukherjea, Indrani Mukherjea’s husband has been apprehended in connection with the brutal murder of his wife’s daughter, Sheena Bora. Indrani is already behind bars for her suspected involvement in the alleged crime and murder of Sheena, her daughter from her first marriage.

This master stroke by CBI has taken everyone by surprise and according to a spokesperson Mukherjea’s name raised the head during investigations and he has been taken into custody. No further reports were revealed regarding the case, as they were not permitted to share their evidence and findings.rsz_indrani-mukherjea

On the 29th of September, CBI took over the case and they had questioned Mr.Mukherjea for hours before they decided that there were “alleged controversies in the statement he had rendered to the police” and this led to his arrest warrant. Peter’s lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani has been taken by surprise at this sudden decision and he exclaimed his shock to the media saying “I contacted him through messages and my last contact was well past 7.30 PM when he informed me that he was being questioned by the CBI and that he would contact me later.”

Sheena Bora, was the 24 year old daughter of Indrani Mukherjea and Sanjeev Khanna her former husband. Sheena was said to have been murdered by Indrani, Sanjeev and Shyamvar Rai, Indrani’s former driver and then the three had dumped the body ruthlessly in a Raigad District forest in the neighborhood, way back in April 2012. CBI has filed a charge sheet of almost 1000 pages, after meticulous investigations in all quarters, in the Sheena Bora case in a Mumbai court.

Media Baron, Peter Mukherjea is Indrani Mukherjea’s present husband and after his questioning session, the CBI decided to arrest him under Section 201 of the Indian Penal Code. He has been accused of “causing the disappearance of evidence of offence, and providing false information” by the authorities. Reports confirm that Peter had not approached the questioning very frankly and he had been “evasive”. It seems that he had rendered ‘contradictory’ responses to the questions asked by the CBI regarding Sheena’s murder.

According to the “Indian Express” a CBI official has stated “She has given enough indications… he knew of the murder.” It is confirmed that Peter was well aware of Sheena’s existence and that she was Indrani’s daughter, since the last 10 years. This mystery was unraveled to him as he had mistakenly read a letter asking for Indrani from her parents in Guwahati asking for ‘financial support for her two children, Sheena and Mikhail’.

Another highlight in the story is that Indrani and Peter faced a loan of Rs 87 crores and half of this was used to purchasing shares of their media house-INX Media Private Limited . Reports have shown that either of the two that is “one of the directors” was loaned Rs 87 crores labeled as ‘loss on the share’ of the company. This happened at the same time as Sheena was murdered.

Maharashtra Police officials are also under the scanner for siding with Peter and these people are already under the keen eye of the CBI, say the officials. “Proper steps of interrogation were not followed even though Peter was under suspicion”, say confirmed reports by a famous news room, which prompted former IPS officer and famous advocate YP Singh to admit “I am not sure whether the Mumbai Police was shielding Peter.”

Were the policemen complacent with the media head? Who will represent Peter now? According to his lawyer, Mahesh Jethmalani “I will be extremely shocked if the news about his arrest is true. I contacted him through messages and my last contact was well past 7.30 PM when he informed me that he was being questioned by the CBI and that he would contact me later. I was informed about Peter’s arrest by his sister this evening. I will not be representing Peter Mukerjea. I don’t know who will be representing him in this case.”

The case has been taken over by Niranjan Mundargi. This makes the case even more interesting, keep reading this space for more!
