It seems that the exorbitant price of the Apple range iPhones was not working very well in India. Earlier it was the iPhone 5S that went through a price reduction and this time it’s the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S plus that has faced a 16% price reduction in India. At the moment, the iPhone 6S is priced at about Rs 52000- Rs 55000.
People had shown their reluctance to upgrade their devices to the latest 16 GB variant and then Apple surprised them by announcing the slashed price on the 16 GB, 64 GB and even the 128 GB variants. Initially the iPhone 6S costed about Rs 62,000 and the iPhone 6S plus costed about Rs. 92000. The price was more than almost Rs 8000 to Rs 9500 than the original prices that Apple had announced at the launch.
The models by Apple were much costlier than the ones in Middle East, US and Hong Kong and this had the people unduly concerned. The demand for the devices had fallen and this price cut seems to be a way to deal with the revival of the demand for the phone in the Oct-Dec quarter. This period is the most lucrative for Apple because they normally launch their flagship phones in September.
A little while ago Apple had lowered the price of its best selling iPhone 5S in the Indian subcontinent and in the last three months, reports say, that the price has been reduced to almost half. The price of the iPhone 5S is now starting at about Rs 24999 whereas it had been selling at Rs 44500 earlier in September. India now experiences the lowest global price of the iPhone .
