Pathankot air base safe? 6 terrorists killed
A prolonged combing operation in Pathankot on Monday was launched to drill out fidayeen from the Pathankot Air Force station and this exercise made sure that all the terrorists were taken out of hiding and dealt with appropriately. Nearly 6 terrorists were flushed out of their hiding place and killed Sunday, by the Indian soldiers in Pathankot. Monday was welcomed but the operation was continued on the same day till late. This was done in order to make sure that all the terrorists were killed and there was no one left in hiding.

According to the senior defense officials the terrorists were hiding in one of the Defence Security Corps (DSC) barracks, which were empty. The building was destroyed by the Indian defense forces, and this was when the attack of the fidayeen halted.
The air force base is spread out about 1600 acres and the Indian security forces went busy sanitizing the whole area thoroughly so that there was no further threat from the terrorists. Late in the evening, the dead body of one of the fidayeen was taken out of the destroyed building. The Punjab Police officials and senior defense authorities gave a statement that they suspected that there were two batches of the terrorists who had crossed over from the Border Security Force’s Bamiyal border out post.
The experts state that when the terrorists had hijacked the car of the Police officer dressed as Policemen, the authorities should have become more careful and they may have been able to avert the gory attack on the military air base. A slow delayed reaction can be termed as a security lapse, say the experts. Many people have been left wounded and about 7 military personnel have lost their lives because of the terror attack but about 6 militants have been declared dead.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been in touch with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the latter stated that “whenever a serious effort to bring peace between (the) two countries was underway, terrorists try to derail the process” and he assured PM Modi that “his government would take prompt and decisive action against the terrorists.”
