Home Remedies to Kick Common Cold!
Common cold is believed to be the most common illness in the world. Sore throat, running nose and non-stop sneezing- all are signs of cold. The researchers discovered in the United States, it’s estimated that people get approximately one billion colds every year. The combination of fever, nasal congestion and body ache is enough to make you feel miserable.
Study findings tells that when a virus invaded warmer cells, the host cells produced significantly more interferon, a proteins that interfere with the spread of a virus by warning healthy cells of its presence. Common cold typically last a week but in older adults and children, it might last longer. At this time, there are no known cures for cold but we have listed some home remedies that may alleviate these symptoms and help support our immune system.

Inhale steam: – Professor Steve Field, chairman of the Royal College of General Practitioners explained that the common cold is a collection of various viruses and your immune system’s response to them causes the lining of the sinuses and symptoms of inflamed nasal passage– which causes runny nose, sneezing and sore eyes.
The best way to cure this inflammation is to loosen up your stuffy nose. Hold your head over a bowl of boiling water and inhale slowly or you can take nice hot shower in steamy bathroom. But be careful! Don’t let the steam burn your skin.
Chicken soup: – Studies have shown that hot chicken soup contains anti-inflammatory properties that may help prevent a cold’s miserable side effects and it helps the body to get rid of the viruses and bacteria that make us sick.
A new research confirmed that chicken soup was most effective in reducing sinus, throat pain and upper respiratory infections, but low-sodium soup carries great nutritional value and helps keep you hydrated.
Ginger: – According to the study in British Journal of Anaesthesia, “just one gram of ginger can alleviate clinical nausea of diverse causes.” A few slices of raw ginger root in tea or some boiling water may help soothe a sore throat and cough.
Although it has been used for centuries but now it proves its curative properties. Ginger is best known for its ability to cure an upset stomach.
Gargle: – Experts from American Journal of Preventative Medicine tell us that gargling with salt water can help to prevent upper respiratory infections and lowers the severity of their symptoms as well. This saline solution may also ease nasal congestion and sore throat pain.
To lowers the tickle in your throat, try viscous gargle made with honey or dissolve a teaspoon of salt in a tall glass of water, swish it around your throat and mouth before splitting it out.
Garlic: – Study confirms that garlic is a powerful antioxidant with antibiotic, antimicrobial and antiviral properties. It contains the compound allicin that block the enzymes that cause viral infections.
Adding a garlic supplement to your diet may not only keep you from getting sick, it also reduce the severity of cold symptoms. Eating fresh garlic helps to knock out that terrible feeling associated with the onset of a common cold.
