Jat agitation goes nasty! Water crisis grips Delhi hard
Shocking but true! Delhi is dry because of the water crisis it is facing. Chief Minister Kejriwal has asked the Centre to do something about it right away as the situation takes a serious turn. The Jat agitation demanding Quota has led to drying of the water in the National capital. Kejriwal, CM has “folded hands’ and asked the Centre to do something about it and get water from Haryana’s “Munak Canal”.
The Jat agitation is at its peak and has succeeded in destroying the equipment used at Munak Canal to transport water to Delhi. The water supply to Delhi from the “Munak Canal” has been shut off and the National Capital has been caught up in the throes of “dryness”. The acute shortage of water has prompted the CM Kejriwal to appeal to the centre to intervene.
Reports from Twitter about the tweet of Kejriwal are

rife and the CM is said to have tweeted, “We’ve completely run out of water. I appeal to the centre with folded hands to immediately intervene and get Munak Canal started in Haryana.” He then updated his post by stating “Gud news. Army takes control of Munak canal gates. Trying to assess in how much time water wud reach Del n whether any damage done to canal lining. Will keep u updated.”
This was not the stance taken by Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister, who said that the situation was not very good and the coming days may be tough. He has also tweeted his opinion and has said that his own home was without water and Delhi needs to brace itself for difficult days coming ahead.
A Delhi Jal Board official, taking about the current water crisis situation, has given a statement , “Against the total production of 820 Million Gallons per day (MGD) of potable water, only 240 MGD is being produced, because of the disruption of the supply source from Haryana. DJB’s tanker fleet has been fully redirected to the water deficient areas. The situation at Wazirabad is being constantly monitored. In this emergent situation, the people of Delhi are requested to use water with the utmost care.”
The most affected areas of Delhi are the Western part, North-Western area, Central parts, Southern regions and a few areas of North Delhi confirmed reports. Till something is done about this, watch out for the Supreme Court’s verdict on the plea for the Centre to take action in supplying uninterrupted water supply to the people of Delhi.
