March tourism blooms to almost 1 lakh! Whopping response to e-visa facility
The e-visa facility will be extended by the Government it seems. More tourist categories are going to be included in this facility because of the whopping response of tourism in the last month. This decision is being contemplated because almost 1.16 lakh visitors stepped in the country after getting their e-visas through this facility. These tourists got e-visa in March 2016 and the increase marked is almost 347% as compared to last year.
The e-visa facility has been increased to about 150 countries as compared to the 43 countries and this adding of the countries may be responsible for the augmentation of e-visa tourist arrivals in India. According to Vinod Zutshi , Tourism Secretary, the ministry had asked for permission for e-visa to be granted for from the Home Affairs Ministry . He confirmed at an event stating “We have been trying very hard for e-visa for MICE and medical. We are hopeful that this e-visa will see the light of the day, particularly for business tourists. We are insisting that ultimately conference visa should also be done, which we have been assured that it will be, step-by-step.”
At the moment the State Government and the Central Government have got together and they are slogging for the development of Sanchi, , Khajuraho, Bodhgaya, Tirupati and Varanasi, as they plan to introduce them as the MICE destinations for tourism purposes.
The maximum tourists who apply for e-tourist visa are from U.K , and the number amounts to almost 27.7% of the tourists visiting India, confirm reports . Russia contributes about 7%, America 13.4%, Germany 5.2% and France about 6.5% of the total tourist visas asked for.
The e-tourist visa facility was introduced on November 27th, 2014 and citizens of about 113 countries could get it and disembark at nearly 16 Indian airports, till the Feb 25th, 2016. But now tourists from approx 37 more countries have also been added to the list and this scheme extension has been greatly applauded by people interested in visiting India.
