Apple rejected! India refuses used iPhone sales

Apple still has to recover from the setback it has received because of India’s refusal to allow import and sales of used iPhones . The country has rejected the request application put forth by the U.S Company, stated an official from the telecommunications industry, to Bloomsberg.

Global shipments are sluggish and this has affected the China market drastically, which is not very good news for Apple. While Apple has just a 2% market share in our country, India proudly stands as the second largest phone market, worldwide. The China slump has shifted Apple loyalties and now Apple needs another outlet to sell its devices. These gadgets are considered very “high-priced” in India and Apple needs to do some brainstorming to win over the Indian audiences.

The iPhone manufacturing company decided to introduce the refurbished or used devices to India, to dispatch them at lesser rates. Regarding this, Apple sent a request application and must have felt business anguish when the application was rejected by the Indian authorities.

India shows “huge market potential” for the iPhone and Apple products in India. Apple is “really putting energy” in India and this year it plans to introduce iphone-7-concept-designs, stated CEO Tim Cook .

In an interview with the CNBC, Cook stated “This is another huge one. India will be the most populous country in the world in 2022. India today has about 50% of their population at 25 years of age or younger. It’s a very young country. People really want Smartphones there.” He admitted that India is an emerging market for LTE or wireless products and at the moment it is at “zero” because of lack of LTE networks, but soon this will be changed.

Cook is said to have stated that “What I see is that countries like India, no LTE, so 0% penetration. They are selling Smartphones, and we sell iPhone there. But arguably you can’t get the full value from it.”When asked about India’s contribution, he is said to have claimed that the scenario is changing and India is showing huge market potential.
