Bluestar Anniversary! Amritsar gets prepared with security
The 32nd Bluestar anniversary is here and Amritsar has been fortified to avoid witnessing any clashes. The walled city is buzzing with more than 9000 armed security personnel who have been deployed to increase the safety and control any agitation, in the area. On the Bluestar anniversary eve, the media had been taken by surprise, as it has been banned from entering the “Parikarma” of the Golden temple, in Amritsar.
Harcharan Singh the Chief secretary had requested the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar to bar the media men saying that their presence may hurt the sentiments of the Sikhs. Way back in 2014, the internal security of the SGPC forces had entered into a sword tussle with some radical Sikh groups. No major injuries had been reported from the incident but the fight in the shrine had reached far and wide because of the media coverage.
At the moment, the Damdami Taksal and the followers of Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale are not seeing eye to eye and reports also state that during an attack on
in Ludhaina, his close associate Bhupinder Singh Dhakki had died.
According to D. S .Bedi, the additional secretary of SGPC, “We have appealed to all Sikh bodies, to observe the anniversary of Operation Bluestar peacefully and pay homage to those who died in the incident and refrain from indulging in incidents that could tarnish the image of the Sikhs,” he stated confirming that the task force had been asked to be vigilant at all times. Sources stated that they have got information that some Sikh and Hindu mischievous elements were planning on holding demonstrations in the near future.
