Atmosphere safety critical! Increasing CO2 levels threatening
It’s a concerning moment for the humans as the measure of carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are rising day by day. Soon they will reach threatening proportions and we will be unable to protect the environment, as the emissions have already crossed the boundary of 400 parts-per-million (ppm). This fact has been penned down by the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii, and has been reported by mirror- .co.uk.
There are nearly 400 molecules of carbon dioxide flitting in about one million atmospheric molecules and this can be very worrisome in the future. No doubt the “crossing of the 400 parts per million” mark was expected, but the scientists are skeptical that these levels will not decrease back to safer levels in the future. One of the main reasons for CO2 levels crossing the 400 ppm boundary is the El Nino that shook the Pacific Ocean during 2015. Another contributing factor to the increase in atmospheric CO2 is the constant burning of fossil fuels by humans.
It is imperative to cut down the carbon emissions by about 40-70% or else in the next 20 years, we will cross the 450 ppm mark. The 400 ppm levels should not rise further, as this poses a severe threat from a change in climate. If the levels of carbon dioxide cross 450 ppm then it can be devastating for humans and the Earth. The planet may get warmed by another two degrees and the existing weather patterns may show an unpredictable shift says the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change of United Nations. It’s time to realize the past mistakes and make efforts to reduce the human emissions that are harming the atmosphere; they have raised almost 25% since the 1997/98 El Nino. Rise up to this challenge and contribute in saving the Planet Earth!
