8 European Nations add Covishield on their ‘Green Pass’ list
Eight EU nations include Indian vaccine Covishield in their 'green pass' list.
The Indian covishield vaccine has been accepted in the ‘green pass’ list by Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and five other European countries.
What is a green pass?
A green pass, also known as an “EU digital covid certificate,” is a travel pass or proof that a person is not infected with covid. It shows the person’s vaccination and recovery information, as well as information on someone who has just been tested.
This pass includes a QR code that can be saved on cellphones, tablets, or printed and scanned. According to ARP, each traveller is given a unique digital signature that relates to their covid19 data. Those who hold this green pass, according to the EU, will be free from quarantine once they arrive at their destination after the verification.
This pass provides information such as a person’s name, date of birth, vaccinations, covid19 illness recovery information, and negative test results
India has declared that it will accept the EU’s (European Union) digital covid certificate provided the EU’s 27 members agree to include Indian vaccines on the green list for Indian travellers.
Following India’s threat of retaliation, European countries including Spain, Germany, Austria, Greece, Ireland, Switzerland, Slovenia, and Iceland have already accepted covieshield on their green pass list.
Authorities in Delhi said they would admit passengers with digital certificates from European countries if they also included the Indian vaccine.
India expressed its concerns with France and the European Medicines Agency (EMA), as well as asking European governments and individual nations to take initiatives and explore WHO(world health organisation) approved vaccines.
Many Indian travellers vaccinated with Covishield are having difficulty in European countries, therefore Adar Poonawala tweeted that he will take the matter to the highest authorities and rectify the problem.
This pass would be valid from July 1, 2021.
This certificate is issued by the national authorities. National authorities will supply all information regarding this pass. It can be provided by health authorities or via ehealth platforms. Passengers with this digital pass will be allowed free movement.
