Daya Singh aka Preet Sekhon, a known criminal, has been detained by the Ranjit Avenue police in connection with the murder of Jagroop Singh, a bouncer, on 10th of October last year.
He was apprehended after being released from jail on a production warrant. On July 28, Sekhon and his two companions were detained by the Amritsar rural police and the organised crime control unit in Chamiayari village, which is part of the Ajnala police station.
Preet Sekhon was facing more than a dozen criminal charges. Jagroop Singh, a resident of Nangli Batha village, was murdered by him and his accomplices Sukhjinder, aka Sukha Datar, and Gurjinder Singh, aka Sonu, while he was returning home from his job as a bouncer at a restaurant in the Ranjit Avenue area. Sekhon had claimed responsibility for the assassination.
