CM of punjab Amrinder Singh resigned from his position.

This Afternoon Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh announced his resignation. According to reports, the decision was made due to congressional pressure.

Former Punjab Chief Minister Amrinder Singh, commonly known as Captain Amrinder Singh, is a prominent Indian politician and author.

In addition to being a member of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, he was also the president of the Indian National Congress’s state affiliate in Punjab.

From 2002 to 2007, he served as Punjab’s Chief Minister.

At Raj Bhavan this afternoon, he met with the State Governor and handed him his letter of resignation.

His son, Raninder Singh, was the first to break the news to the media, announcing that his father will step down as Punjab’s chief minister and lead his family into a new begginning.

According to Amrinder Singh’s initial press statement, he called Congress party president Sonia Gandhi and said he felt humiliated and is resigning as Punjab chief minister.

He said that Navjot Singh Sidhu Sidhu has connections with Pakistan, it might be a major national security concern for our country. 

He went on to say that he will fight against the nomination of Navjot Singh Sidhu as chief ministerial candidate.

He was asked by the press if he would stay in the Congress Party and he replied that he cannot answer this question right now.

On their phone contact, he told Sonia Gandhi of his decision and she apologised profusely.
