New Orleans playground shootout, 16 hospitalized

Gory global incidents have left the people shaking with terror. The brutal attacks on Paris and Mali had left the people trembling and now once again indiscriminate shooting in a New Orleans playground, has taken the world by storm. About 16 people were rushed to the hospital after a shooting incident confirmed the police, to the local television station. Is this another act of terrorism?

Reports from The Times-Picayune newspaper have stated that the shooting started on a crowd collected at Bunny Friend Park in the Upper Ninth Ward in New Orleans, on Monday. According to Michael Harrison, New Orleans Police Superintendent, multiple number of people started firing into a crowd of almost 300 people collected there. Harrison has confirmed to the dailies “I can’t speak to the condition” of all the victims, but “no one has died at this time.”paris

Reports have said that initially the shooting had nothing to do with a terror activity and it was spat between two gangs that led to the gunfire. Several people lay injured and hurt on the sidewalk after the incident, say the witnesses, according to the dailies.

According to the WWL reports, “Several ambulances were seen leaving the scene, and 10 of the victims were taken to University Medical Center, in New Orleans.” Mitch Landrieu, the Mayor of New Orleans arrived at the shooting scene soon. Three witnesses have confirmed that they saw a silver colored machine gun in the hands of a man and when the man heard the sound of more gun shots coming from the crowd, he turned and ran away.

The Times-Picayune said New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu had arrived at the scene of the shooting. Tyler Gamble, a spokesperson of NOPD has also confirmed that “there were two groups that were firing shots back and forth at each other, and then ran off after each other on foot.”
