Say no to Depression with Exercise and Meditation

Do you feel blue or dispirited? Try aerobic exercises with meditation twice a week for just two months to kill the blues forever, states a study. Study also reveals that this combination of body and mind can reduce depression by 40 percent.meditation

Brandon Alderman from Rutgers University’s school of arts and sciences spoke about the findings and stated, “We are excited by the findings because we saw such a meaningful improvement in both clinically depressed and non-depressed students”. Further he stated, “It is the first time that both of these two behavioral therapies have been looked at together for dealing with depression”. These two therapies can be effective to control mental and physical health and adept by anyone at any time and at no cost.

The researchers took an eight-week programme and followed 22 students suffering from depression and 30 mentally healthy students. The partakers aims attention at meditation followed by 30 minutes of aerobic exercise. In result, 22 participants suffering with depression and 30 mentally healthy students showed fewer depressive symptoms.

Dr. Tracey J. Shors, Professor in Behavioural and Systems Neuroscience within the Department of Psychology stated after programme,” By learning to focus their attention and exercise, people who are fighting depression can acquire new cognitive skills that can help them process information and reduce the overwhelming recollection of memories from the past”.
