Hundreds of innocent people were celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, when all hell broke loose. Many of them were ruthlessly crushed by a truck loaded with ammunition. Nearly 80 people are reported dead and many have been gravely injured, after this errant vehicle hit into the crowd of people gathered there to watch a display of fireworks.
A stunned French President Hollande has rushed to the crisis centre in the French resort city of Nice and has hinted that it was a “terrorist attack” on the unaware revelers. The truck had intentionally shot straight into the collected and festive crowd for nearly 2 kilometers on the Promenade des Anglais, all through the palm trees road, leaving hundreds of terrified screams ringing in the atmosphere as people ran helter-skelter trying to save themselves.
The area was full of dead bodies scattered all around after the gory incident. It seems, the truck had been stacked with hand grenades and weapons and had kept on moving for almost a mile, crushing people mercilessly on the “long trip down the sidewalk” , before the driver was shot dead by Police , on late Thursday night. The incident took place near a building near the beach, Palais de la Mediterranee, in Nice.
Talking about the incident a Nice Native, Wassim Bouhlel, the driver came out of the truck and shot in all directions before he was taken down, and “There was carnage on the road, Bodies everywhere.” Bernard Cazeneuve, Interior Minister of France, “80 people were killed, including children, and 18 were in critical condition.” Authorities have ordered an investigation into the “murder, attempted murder in an organized group linked to a terrorist enterprise,” and they have stated that identification papers of a French Tunisian citizen who is about 31-year-old have been recovered from the spot.
A sad Hollande who was moved at the death of several children, has claimed that the incident was of “undeniable terrorist nature.”
