Great news for internet addicts!! Now you can watch videos offline with ‘Opera Mini’! Thanks to the recent update to Opera Mini’s web browser, users will be able to download videos for offline viewing. It’s true, the latest update features a new homepage with the hottest Bollywood,political and lifestyle news and videos.
Currently, the update is on
ly available for Android users and not for the IOS platform.
Opera tweeted, “Watch your favorite videos anytime, anywhere with video download on #OperaMini for #Android.”
No sooner did the news surface that social media sites went nuts. This update will also benefit people living in areas with a weak internet connection and regions where the data charges are quite high.
Videos can be downloaded from a plethora of sites including Facebook, Instagram and more. Unfortunately, videos from YouTube or Vimeo cannot be downloaded as of now, given that these websites have their own dedicated video players.
The downloading process for offline viewing is a piece of cake! Just select the video and where you want to save it…either on internal storage or memory card, press download to save and voila its done!
Many reports suggest that Opera has partnered with Bollywood Hungama and Sportskeeda for providing latest news and videos of cricket and Bollywood gossip.
Many are calling it copycat move, as Youtube had earlier brought the same video download feature on their app. This however, is not new for Opera. Previously, Opera Mini had introduced an in-built Ad block feature and data saving features. It had also launched a theme manage setting for their app and a new method for fast video loading.
Opera thanked users after they completed 100 million downloads with the tweet, “100M downloads. Thank you for putting #OperaMini on the top spot of fastest-growing apps.”
With the rat race heating up between Opera Mini and it’s competitor UC Browser, this new update will only help Opera emerge winner. What more features will Opera Mini add only time will tell.
