Finally life on Mars? Liquid water stains discovered

Is there life on Mars? Maybe, suspect the researchers, and they say that chances of finding life on Mars have increased! Summer time liquid water stains have been traced, running down the walls of cliffs, canyons and craters walls of Red planet , state NASA Researchers, as they disclose images of water.

Researchers have gathered images of Mars terrain and they have noticed steep walls of craters, valleys and cliffs which have been streaked by the summertime flows of water. These downhill stains reveal minute fan like shapes.

The researchers of NASA suspect that during span of summer months liquid water may be running down crater and canyon walls on Mars. This was noticed in the form of dark long stains which are in the form of hundreds of meters downhill discoloration tracks, on the terrain of the red Planet. The water seems to have dried up during autumn months due to temperature variations, as during this time the warmth on the planet starts to plummet, suspect the scientists.

This discovery hints that there may be some form of life on the red planet. The origin of the water is still under speculations and scientists claim that it may be from the salty aquifers, underground ice or condensation of the “thin Martian atmosphere”.

The lead scientist on Nasa’s Mars exploration program, Michael Meyer has revealed to the Guardian that “There is liquid water today on the surface of Mars. Because of this, we suspect that it is at least possible to have a habitable environment today.” The sources where water is collected may be the areas where life may be brimming.

Jim Green from NASA commented “Mars is not the dry, arid planet that we thought of in the past, Liquid water has been found on Mars,” he confirmed. This means that the astronauts making it to Mars sometime in future may get to utilize a natural source of water.
Mars had a watery past, was suspected by most, and pictures collected in the 1970’s showed the presence of dried up rivers and plains that were submerged deep inside lakes. Speculations also pointed out an ocean on Mars.

About ten years ago the Mars Global Surveyor from NASA has shown pictures of water gushing out of a gully wall and then the water found its way across the rocky terrain. Then in 2011, small streams running down the walls of craters were reported by NASA. Calling them slope lineae or dark narrow streaks, researchers noted them originating out of the steep walls of the Garni crater. Is there life and water on Mars? Research continues!mars
