Two brothers have been arrested in the State and they have admitted that they carried out the intolerable act, working hand in hands with “someone in Australia”. There were seven cases noted of the Holy book violation and it seems that the Police have found out offenders in one. This was disclosed by ADGP IPS Sahota who was heading a Special Investigation Team (SIT) .

This team was created for investigations after the recent sacrilege of the Holy book and unpleasant happening in the Gurudwara at Bargari village in Faridkot. After this the same incident was reported at six more areas in the state, and these random acts made the team, wrap up, “the accused became soft targets of anti-national forces due to greed and ambition of becoming rich”.

According to the leader of the team, Sahota , Rupinder Singh and his brother Jaswinder Singh hailing from Panjgrain village in Faridkot, were responsible for the first incident of Holy Book sacrilege in Bargari village in Faridkot. This had lead to a huge aggressive collision involving the Sikh Protestors and Punjab Police.

Sahota affirmed this after reading the call transcripts of the two brothers to the dailies and he stated, “Police took them into custody after intercepting their mobile calls between 14 to 16 October. The brothers were in touch with someone in Australia,” and he confirmed that a search for the person abroad has been initiated.

Sahota also told the media that he will keep them updated on the detailed investigations and foreign connections established by the two brothers soon. They are at the moment aggressively searching out the people involved in the religious crime and have not disclosed details admitting “by doing so we will compromise with the investigations”.

Till now about six persons have been detained in connection with “five of the seven incidents” that have taken place in various districts, of Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Amritsar ,Bhatinda and Ferozepur. The people responsible for the religious desecration

in Ludhiana, Amritsar, and Tarn Taran incidents have been arrested already and there is the involvement of a woman and people “working in the gurudwaras… some of them are Granthis,” said Sahota. In Korian village of Sangrur, Hardev Singh, the Sewadar of Sikh shrine has admitted to the sacrilege issue.

The two recent arrests are of baptized Sikhs and they are said to have an association with several organizations. Sahota has also said that the Dera Sacha Sauda followers are not involved in the incident.
