Paris attack sows fear! US bustles with Syrian immigration, security issues
Sept. 11, 2001 is a date etched deep in the minds of the Americans forever. The recent brutal killings in Paris have raised the shackles of the Americans once again. The fear of doom has returned and a debate regarding national security and immigration has been triggered in the country. US lawmakers have started demanding a tighter analysis of the refugees from Syria who are entering United States of America and they demand blocking the entry of some refugees too.
The Islamic attacks that killed almost 129 people in different areas in Paris has left the U.S administration on tenterhooks and the Republican leaders in the US House of Representatives, are targeting Obama’s efforts to suspend the permission of nearly 10,000 Syrian refugees into U.S..
The Democrats are linking the Syrian refugees indirectly to the Islamic State and the extremist groups active there and have asked for increased scrutiny on Syrian refugees. Asking for a halt in Obama’s refugee program, Paul Ryan, the
Speaker, stated “This is a moment where it is better to be safe than sorry.”Almost 10,000 Syrian refugees are permitted entry into the United States every year and the jittery lawmakers demand that all downtrodden newcomers from this area need to be barred and in case of any exceptions, the Christian Syrians need to get more preference over Muslim Syrians.
This act of demanding the entry blockage and intensive investigations into refugees from Syria has prompted the President to retort back that politicians are taking advantage of the situation and trying to make extra political points in the situation . Obama, during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Manila stated “We are not well served when, in response to a terrorist attack, we descend into fear and panic. We don’t make good decisions if it’s based on hysteria or an exaggeration of risks.”
The calm President was seen losing his cool during the talk and affirmed “I cannot think of a more potent recruitment tool for ISIL than some of the rhetoric thats been coming out of here during the course of this debate.” Unabashed and direct , Obama exclaimed “When candidates say we should not admit 3-year-old orphans, that’s political posturing. When individuals say we should have religious tests, and only Christians, proven Christians, should be allowed, that’s offensive and contrary to American values.”
