Nexus 6P in trouble! Failed bend test, glass shattering, and poor microphone

Huawei and Google are in “Smart phone trouble”. Handset issues are turning out to be a cause of great concern for the Huawei made Google Nexus 6P. The Nexus 6P shows a poor demeanor in bend test videos and the glass shattering incidents are bothering many, and now it has come under the scanner for poor microphone quality.

Users have complained that when they call the other person from their Nexus 6P, the person on the other side of the line is not able to hear them properly. Normal calls, VoIP calls (as in Hangouts), regular calls, all are showing the same result- a poor voice quality. The complaints regarding this are both for speaker phone mode as well as earpiece and speakerphone mode. Its not a localized problem and is spread out to a huge area. People who are Xda-developers, Reddit, and Google Forums etc all are facing the same problem with their voice quality.Nexus-6P-bend-test-2

A few weeks earlier, the Nexus 6P had undergone a series of tests and this included heat test for display, scratch test for glass, and a bend test that was recorded on video. People started to question the smooth way in which the Nexus 6P bends totally and they went investigating. They created another video on the bend test, with a new phone. The phone bent but the joints where plastic was attached to aluminum broke easily and the display popped out , the moment the phone experienced the strain of the bend.

The metal cleanly bends in because of some hidden weak spots and no structural side support. It may work perfectly fine in regular use but will the Nexus 6P be able to handle trauma? The Nexus 6P also faces some “glass trouble”. The glass on the back of the Nexus 6P is not strong enough and shatters very easily when the device is placed on the back.

Nothing is done for this to happen, the glass just shatters. Is this because of temperature variations? Speculations say that this maybe because the metal around the glass may be exerting pressure or the glass expands to shatter. The Nexus 6P has just entered the market and Huawei does need to gear up if it wants a standing in the smart phone brand race.

Google is currently aware of the issue and is investigating it further.
