“Herbal” Cough Syrup Recalled Because of a Secret Ingredient, it’s Morphine!
Are you ingesting that master herb cough syrup too many times? Be careful! The most common herbal cough remedy used for temporary relief of cough due to cold, bronchial irritations and minor throat sore has been recalled after it was found to contain the opioid morphine, which is not declared on the label, according to an FDA press release.
A meeting was structured by the Food and drug Administrator and they alerts consumers not to use licorice coughing liquid because it contain a “camphor compound” whose ingredients include a form of the highly-regulated opiate which can cause life-threatening respiratory depression or even death. Young children with respiratory illness are also vulnerable to respiratory depression from opioids and should not be exposed to morphine, confirm reports.
The product manufactured by Ma Ying Long Pharmaceutical Group in China and distributed in the U.S. by Master Herbs USA has been recalled and also recommends the customers to stop using the product and return it to place of purchase. Use of this cough syrup may put lives in a huge quandary, and children health in particular is at stake.
