Indian tourism rejoices! Nearly 266% rise in e-visa records
India’s decision to permit e-visa to nearly 150 countries seems to have paid off. Tourism this year has bloomed and almost 266% rise is evident in e-visa applications, say the authorities.
The foreign tourists who have availed the e-tourist visa facility to visit India have touched a figure of almost 70,045 visitors. Last year at the same time there was a registration of only 19,139 tourists in the country. The growth calculated is astronomical and is nearly about 266%, say the reports.
The maximum visitors are from U.K, following close on its heels are the US and Russia. In the first four months i.e. from January to April of 2016, a significant growth in tourism was noticed. Almost 3, 91,094 visitors stepped into our country where as last year only about 94,998 visitors came for visiting India.
An official release has confirmed that this growth is almost 311.7%, which is a whopping boost for the tourism industry in India. The e-visa facility had been launched on the November 27th, 2014 and citizens of about 150 countries can avail this on arriving at about 16 Indian airports.
The official release confirms “This high growth may be attributed to introduction of e-tourist visa for 150 countries as against the earlier coverage of 43 countries.”In March, U.K. topped with 18.82% tourists who applied for the e-visa, US recorded 14.08%, Russian applications were at 8.16 %, France 7.12 %, China 6.31 %, Australia 4.67 %, Germany 4.32 %, Canada 3.70 percent, Thailand showed 2.09%, and Netherlands applied for about 1.93 % of the e-visa applications.
