Beware! Afternoon nap increases Blood Pressure!
Are you in a habit of taking an afternoon nap? Kick it! According to the findings of a new study, a shut eye during the afternoon may put you at risk of developing high blood pressure.
The researchers from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN have found that people who snooze in the afternoon are more likely to suffer from high blood pressure.
While the researchers are still to figure out if duration of afternoon nap is directly associated with diet, exercise or any other underlying medical condition, the statistics suggest that such people face a 13-19 percent increased risk of suffering from hypertension.
The findings are based on a meta-analysis of data from nine observational studies which included 112,267 participants.
The findings of the study were presented at the 31st Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Society of Hypertension.
