Careful! Artificial Sweeteners in food, try to avoid them

Walking the weight losing path? Have you started taking sweeteners to keep the sugar levels down? A study has revealed that even if the sweeteners aid the overweight people to cut down on the calorie intake, they may be bad for health and can cause negative health effects and may even lead to Type 2 Diabetes sometimes.
The body faces difficulty in digesting the artificial sweeteners said the earlier studies but the recent study states that the gut bacteria now breaks down the artificial sweeteners in the digestive process but results in negative health effects. The gut bacteria are altered and diabetes is triggered. You must have seen the various “diet foods”, “sugar-free” available in the markets and they sell as jellies, candy, chewing gum, colas, baked delights, fruit juice, yogurt, ice-cream etc. Sweeteners are often used in foods and diet drinks to lower the calorie intake.
In almost every restaurant and eating place and according to Jennifer Kuk from York University’s school of kinesiology and health science in Toronto, Canada, “Our study shows that individuals with obesity who consume artificial sweeteners, particularly aspartame, may have worse glucose management than those who don’t take sugar substitutes.” People who were consuming natural sugars and saccharin did not show this adverse effect, stated the scientist. Kuk also stated ‘We will need to do future studies to determine whether any potentially negative health effects of artificial sweeteners outweigh the benefits for obesity reduction.’
Data from almost 2856 adults who were a part of “Third National Health and Nutrition Survey” (NHANES III) was used for the study. People involved in the study had to report the diet they had consumed in the last 24 hours, and they were categorized as “consumers of artificial sweeteners — aspartame or saccharin — or high or low consumers of natural sugars — sweetners.”
The new study has revealed that chances of a person getting Type 2 diabetes are higher with the sweeteners. People, who resort to aspartame as a sweetener, may be categorized as having worse glucose management.
Details of the study are published in Applied Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism.
