Head on train collision in Southern Italy, 20 dead

Southern region of Puglia in Italy stands shaken, with a passenger train collision that killed 20 people and injured dozens. On Tuesday, two passenger trains had a major head-on accident, in the South of Italy, stated a regional official, and the firemen worked in the extreme heat trying to pull the rummage apart in their search for survivors. The impact of the crash led to flying debris, crumpled and rutted carriages that flew all around in an uncontrolled manner in the affected area.

The incident took place at about 11.30 A.M, in between Corato and Andria, two Southern Italy towns. The force of the impact rutted carriages and sent debris flying into an olive grove. Appealing for people to donate blood at the local hospitals, the deputy head of the local province, Giuseppe Corrado, “Unfortunately the death toll has risen to 20,” though reports state two people were saved alive from the crushed rumble. The number of people travelling on the train when the crash took place is still not definite, say the reports. The train was trailing four carriages and three of them have shattered totally under the strong impact. One of the trains had to be moving at very high speed, it seems.

In the extreme summer heat, Firemen put all their efforts to search for people buried under the shattered carriages and wreckage of the two commuter trains. Talking about this a fire service spokesperson, Luca Cari, “The rescue is complicated because this happened in the middle of the countryside.” It seems that the two trains were on the same line and had been moving towards each other. The disaster has led to despair and the italytraincrashap16194395477813 has deployed two investigators to look into details of the matter “at Puglia”, as the incident is still confusing.

The Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, has claimed, that they will keep on looking for an explanation regarding the incident.
