Shocking news came from Central London, Russel Square park after a man armed with a knife attacked people and stabbed one woman to death. Police said that they received several phone calls around 10:30 PM local time, on Wednesday, of a man assaulting people with a knife.
Police arrested the assailant as soon as they reached the crime scene, with many reports suggesting that the police had to use a taser gun for detainin
g him. While there is no information on the attacker, it is alleged that he was 19-years of age.
Mark Rowley , London Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner said, “Early indications suggest that mental health is a significant factor in this case and that is one major line of inquiry.”
Soon after he was arrested , the attacker was taken straight to the hospital and after being discharged, he was sent to south London police station.The woman who was stabbed with a knife was treated immediately by the Paramedics, but due to the severity of her injury, she died shortly. As for the other five victims, two women and three men, they were taken to the local medical facility instantaneously. London’s Metropolitan Police Service posted this on their twitter page, ‘’ Two people who were injured in the #RussellSquare incident remain in hospital. Three others have been discharged. Further update to follow.’’
The investigation on the case is still going on, but the motivation behind the attack is still unclear to them. Social media went berserk after a tweet was posted by Metropolitan Police .
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan has also issued a statement on the incident he said, “The safety of all Londoners is my number one priority and my heart goes out to the victims of the incident in Russell Square and their loved ones.’’
