Latest Update! WhatsApp adds Voicemail, Call Back Feature
Whatsapp’s latest update has finally added the much-anticipated voice mail feature. Last month, a beta version of voice mail was released for Android. The voice mail option appears when the call made via Whatsapp is either not picked or rejected by the recipient.
Currently, Whatsapp version 2.16.8 on iOS and WhatsApp version 2.16.229 on Android, has the voice mail feature.
Also, included in the latest update is a call back option not seen in the earlier versions. Whatsapp is rolling out new features with their every latest update. In late July they added some more new features which included bigger emojis and messaging options like the ability to delete or mark as read chats at once.
The Facebook-Owned company is getting a lot of praise from the social media and Whatsapp users alike.
So how this new voice message feature works? Well, actually it is quite simple, if the intended recipient rejects the call or ignores the call, the user will get a new screen with three options namely cancel, call again and voice message.
Pressing the cancel option will close the new screen. Call again option, as the name suggests, will let the user call back the recipient. And now comes the voice message option, for that the user have to press and hold the voice message button to record the message.
After the user is finished recording the message they just have to release the voice message button to save and send the message, and voila the recorded message will be shown in the conversation!
Unfortunately, currently, there is no option for listening to the voice mail before sending it.
While still a rumor, the word on the street is, that the next Whatsapp update will likely see the video calling feature for which the fans have been eagerly awaiting. Describing the new voice mail feature Whatsapp said, “When placing a WhatsApp call, you now quickly leave a voice message if your call isn’t answered, just like voicemail.”
