Uber revamps its rider app! Check out the new features!
In what can be termed as a major update since 2012, ride-hailing service Uber Inc. has launched a redesigned app for commuters. The streamlined app that offers a much cleaner interface, less confusion and introduces shortcut options has been rolled out to 1% users across the globe including India.
Yuhki Yamashita, Senior Product Manager at Uber stated, “Since our last redesign in 2012, our app has become complicated and harder to navigate. To recapture the clean and simple aesthetic of the original Uber experience—without sacrificing the choice our riders now expect—we rebuilt a faster, smarter rider app completely from the ground up. Gone are the days when everyone’s app looks the same. The new Uber experience is reimagined around a simple question—“Where to?
Uber has incorporated tremendous changes in its app. It will now throw up shortcuts to favorite destinations for frequent riders. You’ll also be able to sync your calendar with Uber, such that the destinations for your meetings and appointments will appear as shortcuts.
There’s more! Uber will allow commuters to sync their phone contact with the app, which will enable them to book cabs without setting a destination or checking up on timings.
And guess what? The new app will also facilitate comparison of rates of different Uber car services…UberGo, UberX, and Uber Pool before taking a ride. Other features include splitting fares and sharing trip status with close friends and family.
The company will be introducing new features through affiliations with third-party service providers shortly.
“Soon, we’ll offer more experiences tailored around where you’re going. Using Uber to get to the station? Check Transit to see upcoming departures for the train, bus, and subway. Headed somewhere delicious? Browse Yelp reviews right from the app. Exploring a new neighborhood? Use Foursquare for tips on what to do and where to go next. On your way to friends? Play with exclusive Snapchat filters or stream your favorite songs on Pandora to get you in the mood. And if UberEATS is in your city, order food on the way home so you and your burrito can arrive together,” said Yuhki Yamashita in a blog post.
Uber is yet to roll out UberEATS in India!
