PM Launches Crash Course Program to Train 1 Lakh COVID19 Front-line Workers

India to train healthcare workers under its Skill India Mission

Prime Minister Narandra Modi during a video conference on Skill India Mission on Friday launched six customized crash course programmes to train and hone skills of around 1 lakh COVID19 front-line workers. The move is touted to strengthen India’s fight against the impending third wave that is expected to hit the country around October.

“In the second wave of coronavirus, we saw what kind of challenges the ever-changing form of this virus can bring before us,” PM Modi said.

“We have to further enhance the preparedness of the country to meet the challenges ahead,” he emphasized.

“With this goal in mind, a massive campaign to prepare about one lakh front-line ‘Corona warriors’ is being started in the country,” PM Modi said.

The training will be imparted under six customized programmes namely, Home Care Support, Basic Care Support, Advanced Care Support, Emergency Care Support, Sample Collection Support, and Medical Equipment Support.

“These courses are designed to skill as well as upskill the healthcare workforce. 111 such centers are being started from today across the nation under the Skill India programme. With this, we will have more than one lakh new skilled healthcare front-line workers in the next few months,” PM said.

PM Modi requested his countrymen not to throw caution to the wind. He emphasized on the need to follow the COVID protocol. He highlighted that the virus is “still amongst us” and its possibility to mutate is also very high.
