Nice Attack : 84 Killed In The Massacre

Carnage occurred in the French city of nice when a truck driving at very high speed rammed into the crowd. The shocking incident took place on Thursday near Promenade des Anglais seafront, where people were watching the annual Bastille Day firework display.

The truck was said to be driven by a 31-year-old male named Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel. The unfortunate event took place as the fireworks celebration for the Bastille day were coming to an end.

The man driving the truck was of Tunisian descent. The truck was said to be driven at very high speed and the driver knowingly ploughed the truck into the crowd. The driver was shot by the police and died instantly.

Authorities have confirmed that at least 84 people, including 10 children, were killed in the slaughter. In addition to that more than 200 people are said to be injured. The event was attended by more than thousand people.

The horrific news shocked everyone, and many celebrities and politicians took social media to express their condolences for the victims. French president François Hollande said, ‘’ There’s no denying the terrorist nature of this attack of yet again the most extreme form of violence.”

US president Barack Obama told, “On Bastille Day, we are reminded of the extraordinary resilience and democratic values that have made France an inspiration to the entire world, and we know that the character of the French Republic will endure long after this devastating and tragic loss of life.”

Many Bollywood actors took Twitter to express their thoughts on the horrific incident.

Akshay Kumar tweeted, ‘’Sad to wake up to the news of the Nice Attack! Heart breaking! I was there last year, beautiful place and people. Prayers for the families of the victims.’’

‘And 80 souls in heaven in France and 1 in hell..many moons ago I had said RIP Europe and many didn’t understand ..frequency of attacks in E,’’ said Raveena Tandon on Twitter.

Hollande also gave an update on the state of emergency said to be in effect after terrorist attacks in Paris eight months ago, he plans to extend it for more three months. The Investigation is still going on, with many speculating it as a terrorist activity while no group has claimed responsibility for it yet.
