Renegade forces arrested! Coup attempt thwarted in Turkey
A rebellious faction of the military in Turkey had made a coup d’état, in order to rule and take control of the Turkey Government to achieve some evil objectives. On July 15th, 2016, in the evening a group of generals plotted the attempt and tried to destroy security institutions, Presidential palace, Parliament house and the Government with their fighter jets, killing at least 265 people and injuring many others. The Police stood by the democratic Government elected by the people and the plotters of the coup were coerced into surrendering on Saturday.
Turkey foiled the Coup attempt that left nearly 265 dead. The renegade forces were closed on and almost 2800 members of the military have been arrested till now. The threat over the security institutions and Government loomed heavily when the fighter jets created chaos in the area. Hours of clashes between tanks and ordinary Turks led to the death of 100 coup plotters and about 161 civilians and Police personnel in this incident. The streets of Ankara and Istanbul had been strewn by large numbers of Turkish citizens who stood in front of the tanks to stall them. These tanks had ruthlessly crushed protesters and the military had helicopters firing at the civilians.
According to Gen. Umit Dundar, the acting military chief, “More than 100 coup plotters are now dead, while another 161 people – including civilians and police – were killed as ordinary Turks poured into the streets to confront tanks amid pitched battles in urban areas.” At least 1,440 were wounded, confirmed the officials.
Reports are also stating that the rebel officers are still holding some of the pro-Government commanders of the military captive and they have no idea how these hostages had been imprisoned. About 5 Generals and nearly 29 colonels have been made to give up their positions. A US Defense official has also anonymously admitted that their Turkey based force protection levels are moved on to “Condition Delta”, which is normally boosted in case of a terrorist assault.
The Prime Minister, Benali Yildirim, has stated that the coup attempt is a a dark stain for Turkish democracy,” though the situation has been brought under control and almost 2800 members of the military have been rounded up. By Saturday, the control had been taken back from the gory revolution plotters who hailed from the military police, air force and armored units. The officials stated “Government forces by midday had closed in on the army headquarters in the capital, Ankara, where at least 150 rebel troops were holed up.”
